Company Description:
ELISA Technologies' primary activity is providing immunoassay testing kits and analytical services for the food industry. We develop and produce antibodies and test kits that provide rapid, accurate, sensitive, specific, cost-effective, answers to questions about the contents of meat and food products for the food industry, consumers, and regulatory agencies. Our test kit formats are used by the United States Department of Agriculture - Food Safety and Inspection Service (USDA-FSIS).  We have kits available for a range of testing including raw and cooked meat speciation, food proteins and allergens, and toxins.

A Fast Sensitive and Simple Test for the Detection of Gluten in Food Samples

For persons with gluten sensitivity the only treatment for these conditions is the adoptions of a gluten-free diet, avoiding foods containing wheat, rye, barley and other related cereal grains.

Due to the high prevalence of these grains in the food supply, even products that do not contain wheat, rye or barley as ingredients may still contain trace amounts that are significant enough to produce symptoms in gluten-sensitive individuals.

MELISA-TEKĀ® Species Kits

MELISA-TEK® Species Kits detect species-specific muscle tissue (troponin-I) in cooked meat products, feed products, and other heat-treated and processed products; such as meat meals or meat and bone meals.  Detection of troponin-I, which is a heat-stable, skeletal muscle-specific protein, allows for the detection of species-specific muscle tissue content in products processed at temperatures exceeding 133°C and 3 bars of pressure but does not detect milk, blood, or gelatin.  MELISA-TEK® kits can identify feed products containing banned animal proteins regulated by the U.S., E.U., Great Britain, and Japan.  When used with the New High Sensitivity Extraction Kit, the MELISA-TEK® tests can detect species meat and bone meal down to 0.1% sensitivity.

ELISA-TEKĀ® Cooked Meat Species Kits

ELISA-TEK® Cooked Meat Species Kits qualitatively detect animal species content in cooked and canned meat, meat products, and processed foods.  The testing method is based on antibodies raised to heat-resistant species specific, muscle-related glycoproteins.  The ELISA-TEK® is an official confirmatory method of the USDA-FSIS for cooked and canned meats, and is a chapter 35 method in Germany.  It is also an official SENASA method for monitoring feeds in Argentina.

In-House Analytical Testing Services

 

  ELISA Technologies, Inc.  Offers in-house testing services for species identification (cooked & raw) as well as for a variety of allergens (please refer to the list of testing services available on the website).  We offer a two-working-day turn around time on results from the time we receive a sample*.  Our testing services are highly confidential; information is only reported to the issuing company and then only to their indicated contact person.

 

  Our in-house meat speciation testing services utilizes the same tests and official qualitative protocols used by the USDA-FSIS for determination of species in meats and meat products.

 

  Our speciation and allergen testing services are all A2LA Accredited to ISO 17025.

 

  *Offered for most samples, depending on quantity, quantification and special requests.

Thermal Evaluation Kit

 

Based on the USDA CMSE, the ELISA-TEK® Pork Thermal Evaluation Kit qualitatively determines if meat and bone meals containing >10% blood-fed porcine tissues have been thermally processed in accordance with European Union (EU) guidelines (133˚C and 3 bars of pressure for 20 minutes).  This test method is based on polyclonal antibodies raised to heat stable, porcine specific, muscle related glycoproteins that are detectable until heated to EU specifications.  The presence of these heat-resistant pork antigens in significant amounts indicates the sample has not received adequate thermal processing.
